FedEx truck burns after accident

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. – A drowsy truck driver may be to blame for Tuesday's wreck of a Federal Express tractor-trailer near St. Louis.

The tractor-trailer was a total loss, but the driver and the passenger were unhurt.

Debris was scattered across the roadway.
State officials say the truck's driver began to fall asleep, and the truck touched a highway wall. They say when the driver tried to correct for that, the truck hit a light pole, igniting the fuel tank.

Missouri's Homeland Security director was notified because of concern that the fire may have been caused by a package inside the truck.
